In September Cheltenham will become the first town (as opposed to a city) in the UK to host it’s very own Beer Week, and we’re incredibly excited to be part of it! We’ll be hosting two events this year, celebrating some of our favourite brewers from Cheltenham and beyond. Here’s what we’ve got in store for you…
Wiper & True Beer Dinner – Wednesday 21st September
On Wednesday 21st September we’re teaming up with Bristolian brewers Wiper & True and putting on a tasting menu with a difference – a beer flight rather than wine!
Our chefs have created an exceptional menu using the very best of local & seasonal offerings, working on classic flavour combinations, with the usual Ox twist! We’ll then be showcasing some wonderfully flavoursome beers from Wiper & True as well as a collaboration beer with the fine folk of Toast Ale who use surplus bread in their beer brewing which would otherwise have been wasted.
White crab meat, mango salsa, curry oil, coconut gel.
Wiper & True Citra & Rye
Blue cheese pannacotta, apple & celery salad, pickled grapes.
Wiper & True Rhubarb Sour
Pork loin, burnt apple puree, carrot quinoa, pork quavers.
Wiper & Trye In The Rye Saison
Chocolate, cashew ice cream, orange puree.
Wiper & True Milk Shake
Tickets to this event are just £40, and are sure to be in high demand – you can book your place here.
DEYA Brewery gets innovative at The Ox – Sunday 25th September
Sunday 25th September may be the final evening of Cheltenham Beer Week but for us it will be an evening of looking forward and seeing how we can push the wonderful world of beers forward through the year.
We’re very excited to be hosting a tasting with Theo Freyne of local Cheltenham DEYA Brewery who shall be introducing us to his beers brewed in his sparkly new home by the train station. After the tasting we will have four of Cheltenham’s finest bartenders competing against each other in a cocktail competition utilising Theos’ beers in their mixes, if you come along to the tasting you get to be the judges of the cocktails… What could possibly go wrong!
This will be a ticketed event starting at 4pm and for just £7.50 a pop to taste all of Theos’ beer and to help judge the cocktails. Ticket holders will get a 10% discount on Sunday lunch so come along early and fuel up! You can book your ticket here.
